B & B; Breakfast and Beaches — Breakfast food and local beach spots

Breakfast Food

When we decided to throw in the towel with our careers in the garment business and pursue becoming innkeepers, my first reaction was “I better learn to cook breakfast!” I am really not a breakfast person, and that hasn’t changed much. I have always loved cooking and baking, but breakfast was never part of my focus.

Thankfully, I always read lots of cooking magazines, and then there was the Food Network — blogs were just getting popular back in 2010.

Now, after owning two inns, our first was in Maine and now we have White Fences Water Mill here in the Hamptons, I would have to say my go-to all-time guest favorite is the “cheesy egg open-face breakfast sandwich.”

It’s very simple to make and everyone loves it: Whole grain toast, a little smear of mayo, bacon, a slice of tomato (it’s great now that local tomatoes are in season), cheese. All goes into the oven until the cheese is melted and then I add a fried egg on top!

Local Beach Spots

Come for the beach, stay for the bed & breakfast! My favorite beach tip for my guests: Go to Flying Point Beach, which is less than two miles from White Fences Water Mill (it’s walkable)! Flying Point beach is special because it’s never too crowded. Although Cooper’s Beach is more well known, Flying Point is just as nice. At White Fences Water Mill, we have parking passes, beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels for our guests to ensure your getaway by the beach is a seamless one!
