Well it’s that time of year again and we are getting ready for the holidays here in the Hamptons. Thanksgiving is the “kick-off” holiday, it gets me thinking about what’s to follow in December. Owning an inn we are always looking forward to welcoming guests who are visiting family, friends or just coming to have a holiday here. We always try to have the inn feeling like a special place to visit during the holidays. People feel often comment how the inn feels just like home!
Decorating
Christmas decorations are so cheerful. I love to start getting ready for the holidays by decorating the Christmas tree. Opening each box of decorations brings so much joy. Remembering each ornament, who gave it to us, where we purchased it, who we spent past Christmas with. I love to have some Christmas music playing while decorating. If it’s a cold day I sometimes treat myself to an eggnog while decorating the tree. We have two rooms to decorate, the coffee room where we put the tree and the sitting room where the fireplace is. Eric bought me three tall Nutcrackers years ago that look perfect by the fireplace. Add a few poinsettias, birch logs in the fireplace and it feels very festive. Pinterest is a great place for inspiration on decorating if you need some help.
The Hamptons during the holidays
Getting ready for the holidays here in the Hamptons kicked off last weekend. If you would like to learn how to make a beautiful holiday wreath Marder’s is hosting a few classes. East Hampton Gardens has a beautiful gift shop that you won’t want to miss. The villages all have their letters to Santa mailboxes out, one of my personal Christmas favorites! The streets are lined with Christmas trees. The Montauk Lighthouse had it’s Christmas lighting event last week it’s worth the drive to see it. Southampton really does the best job at Christmas it’s such a special time to visit. Wolffer Vineyards will kick off their annual Lighting of Vines this Saturday. The event sold out in 1 hour this year but the vines will stay lit all winter long so make sure to visit there while you are staying with us. December 8th is the annual Hampton Inn Tour of which we will be participating. It’s so much fun to visit the inns while they are all decorated and taste a few cookies along the way.
Plan a visit
Now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are done you must be exhausted. It’s time to come rest and relax at White Fences Inn Water Mill. Come enjoy a real B&B experience. The best three course breakfast in the Hamptons will await you each morning. Guests have told us they set their alarms just to make sure they don’t miss breakfast. You won’t want to leave our super comfy beds but the wonderful showers with body sprays or the volcanic stone bathtubs will help get your day started. Our room amenities are all top of line and the new eucalyptus shower spray and lavender pillow sprays will help calm your mind. Make sure to plan your visit soon, we look forward to welcoming you to our inn.
