I can never understand why winter lasts so long and just like that it’s August! My father always said on July 4th in a blink of an eye it will be Labor Day. This summer has been amazing. The weather has been perfect for what ever you want to do; beach, pool, tennis, golf, outside dining, just perfect. I think mother nature is being kind after the rainy spring we had. Our guests have really enjoyed all the Hamptons has to offer.
It’s the perfect time to enjoy the “fruits” of farming
The farm produce and the flowers have blossomed late this season, probably because of the all the rain. I am hopeful that September will be an extension of the summer, it’s usually the best month for the perfect weather. They do say that September is the new June. This year is the 10th Annual Share the Harvest Farm BBQ. It so spectacular and so much fun!
People don’t often talk about all the farms here but there are so many and one of my favorite things about living here. I just wish the season lasted longer because the veggies are fruit are so spectacular. There’s a new farm this season – Yellow Farm, that has the most beautiful location, the back is filled with polo ponies grazing in the fields. Yellow Farm is Hank’s (Pumpkintown) son! So the next generation of farming! The local melons are pretty high on my list of favorite fruit out here. I tried a new recipe with the local melons – Cantalope Gazapacho! I wasn’t sure if everyone would like but not only did they like it they LOVED it! It’s so refreshing on a hot summer day. We always recommend that guests make sure to stock up on local veggies to take home, especially the corn and tomatoes.
Calling all Equestrians
August is the busiest month of the year here as everyone wants to make sure to get their beach vacation in. The Hamptons Classic is also one of the largest events held here and we are conveniently located only 3 miles from the event. The Hampton Classic is one of the top 10 equestrian shows in the US! The people watching can be great, Jessica Springstein (the “boss’s) daughter is always a top competitor.
